Tomb of Agamemnon
Tomb of Ambiguity, Treasury(?) of the Past
Elias Martinez
There're tons of sights and landmarks to be seen and beheld in Greece. But by far the one of the most confusing, one of the most ambiguous stops has to be Agamemnon's Tomb, or also known as the Treasury of Atreus. But either way you split it, they're both wrong! Misnomers! Because in reality, nobody has any real proof for what this was used for. There's mostly speculation now, since anyone can take it as it looks and attribute it to something familiar. This also applies to the other tombs that were discovered around it as well, some of which are attributed to being tombs for sure.

Starting from its frontal facade, we can already tell that this structure was built directly into a hill. The doorway itself is about 18 feet tall tapering into the top. This isn't even the most impressive part either. Take a moment to look at this. What sort of energy does this ooze? Well I'll give you my answer. I look at this and I think about a dungeon entrance, or of course, an elaborate crypt that any wandering traveler could lose their way in. But despite this, the tomb itself is only comprised of two rooms. The main room, and one that hasn't been decided what it was used for.

The inside of the tomb is something that is called a Beehive tomb based on its dome-like structure. Alongside the Tomb of Agamemnon were nine others that were unearthed, dating back from 1510 BC to 1220 BC! Unlike this one, the others are hardly recognizable due to the ceilings being caved in. The Tomb of Agamemnon is the most preserved out of the nine. And unlike its name calling for it to be considered the real tomb of the Iliad heroes, there is no such proof of it actually being a tomb of these famous heroes. The domed interior is about 44 feet tall, while being as wide as 48 feet! Quite the grandeur tomb all things considered!

And lastly, this rectangular room. The true use of this room, as stated before, is still unknown. Not only is it empty, its contents have either been raided long before today's time, or it simply didn't house anything at all. We will never know for sure... If only we could go back in time to investigate for ourselves...
Like always, best wishes to you all!
